Home cooking with Portuguese and international influences, on Duluth Avenue for over 30 years.
Open 7 days a week, kitchen until closing.
Chez José is first and foremost a family story. For more than 30 years the restaurant has grown with the people who run it — today a new generation, led by a woman entrepreneur alongside her children and a team that shapes the menu with her.
Our Portuguese roots inspire our recipes and the way we welcome people. The rest — the music, the energy, our love of art, dance and Latin cultures — comes from every member of the team.
Brunch has become a neighbourhood institution: Portuguese breakfast, house smoothies, freshly squeezed orange juice, savoury crêpes and dessert crêpes with lemon or chocolate. Some things never change — our seafood soup, in a tomato and coriander broth, has been served every Friday and Saturday for thirty years. As for our pastéis de nata, our regulars rank them among the best in Montreal.
On Duluth Street, Chez José is more than a café — it's a place where people take the time to be together.
